Where Being LOCAL Really Matters!

Early Summer’s Heavenly Sunflowers

Summer is not only a time for long, warm days or playing outside and enjoying the sunshine. We also celebrate all manner of occasions, from birthdays and national holidays to moms, dads, and graduations during summer months. Of all the flowers to represent the versatility of summer, the sunflower is the most obvious choice. Historically, these hearty plants were one of the first crops planted in North America. Harvested for their seeds, Native American tribes in the Southwest United States and Mexico discovered ways to grind the seeds into flour, while other parts of the plant were used for medicine or to dye clothing. Today at Bice’s Florist, we rely on these sun worshippers to help us usher in the summer season. Read More about Early Summer’s Heavenly Sunflowers »

How To Honor The Graduate In Your Life

Graduation for our high school seniors is just around the corner, and along with prom, parties, awards ceremonies and other end of the school year events, it's certainly a momentous occasion worthy of our admiration. Bice's Florist congratulates all of our local graduates, and we haven't forgotten that many of them deserve flowers---lots and lots of flowers. It's customary to adorn ourselves with corsages and boutonnieres for prom, and it's just as traditional to offer a bouquet to the graduates we know and love. All The Super Ladies

May 6 through May 12 sees us celebrating not one but two types of empowered and empowering women: teachers and nurses. Appreciation week is the perfect time to honor these super ladies with something that is as full of strength and beauty as they are, Bice's Florist thinks. And we know, we know. There are plenty of men who deserve our appreciation this week, too. But these fields are overwhelmingly dominated by women---women who are mentors and mamas, sisters, cousins, friends, neighbors, colleagues and allies. Read More about All The Super Ladies »

Not Your Garden-Variety Earth Day

Want to make Earth Day really special this year? Get out into the Fort Worth community and participate in one of the many events designed to celebrate our planet and promote environmental awareness. Clean-ups, plantings, festivals and more offer us the unique opportunity to take care of our part of the Earth, and Bice's Florist wants to offer you the chance to do the same at home, too. Taking care of our immediate environment is a great way to teach our kids (and remind ourselves) that preservation and conservation are key to keeping our planet healthy, happy and beautiful. This goes for our home environment too. Read More about Not Your Garden-Variety Earth Day »

Raise Awareness On Behalf Of Your Desktop

Administrative Professionals Day is on the horizon (April 25), and we here at Bice's Florist know just the thing to kick things off. We're calling it "Desktop Awareness," and it's our own personal way to bring attention to the dire straits our work spaces often find themselves in after a long winter. Bereft of flowers and plants, our desks look empty and lifeless. They deserve more. Read More about Raise Awareness On Behalf Of Your Desktop »

Refresh Your Home With Some Spring Spirit

Don't overlook one of the most important aspects of doing that big spring deep clean, we here at Bice's Florist advise. As you're working to restore your home's balance after a long fall and winter, which may include editing out items, boxing up winter ones and an overall overhaul of what's in each room, don't forget to add back in plants and flowers when you're done. Why? Both---but especially plants---help to improve the air quality in your home and add a sense of vitality to it as well. Read More about Refresh Your Home With Some Spring Spirit »

A Wild Basket Of Flowers

Bice's Florist loves an Easter basket---the more traditional, the better. And we're not talking simply about the ones that appear Easter morning brimming with chocolate bunnies and Peeps. We're talking about the kind that comes full of fresh flowers, brighter than a dozen dyed Easter eggs, fresher than you could imagine. The sense of the garden and the fruits it will eventually bear is so important during this time of year, which is why we love combining the basket with flowers reminiscent of the garden. The Enchanting Fragrance Of Stargazers

If we here at Bice's Florist could boil the fragrance of stargazer lilies down into an essence and wear it, we would. Such is the perky, pretty scent of these bold beauties, which remind us so much of spring and the fact that our gardens will once again grow. One of the wonderful things about flowers is that they are not only a treat for the eyes, but they appeal to all of the senses, including the olfactory one.
