Summer is not only a time for long, warm days or playing outside and enjoying the sunshine. We also celebrate all manner of occasions, from birthdays and national holidays to moms, dads, and graduations during summer months. Of all the flowers to represent the versatility of summer, the sunflower is the most obvious choice. Historically, these hearty plants were one of the first crops planted in North America. Harvested for their seeds, Native American tribes in the Southwest United States and Mexico discovered ways to grind the seeds into flour, while other parts of the plant were used for medicine or to dye clothing. Today at Bice’s Florist, we rely on these sun worshippers to help us usher in the summer season. Read More about Early Summer’s Heavenly Sunflowers »

If we here at Bice's Florist could boil the fragrance of stargazer lilies down into an essence and wear it, we would. Such is the perky, pretty scent of these bold beauties, which remind us so much of spring and the fact that our gardens will once again grow. One of the wonderful things about flowers is that they are not only a treat for the eyes, but they appeal to all of the senses, including the olfactory one. Of all the wonderful things that spring bestows, our favorite here at Bice's Florist has to got to be its flowers. It's no stretch to say that we wait all year for them, such is the power of the blooms we traditionally associate with spring. Crocus, lilac, hyacinth, tulip, azalea, hydrangea . . . We could go on, but we won't. Allow us just to show you what spring, in flowers, looks like. Read More about Showing Off Spring’s Snazziest Blooms »

With International Women's Day on the horizon, it's about time to start thinking about who you'll be honoring this year. If you're like us at Bice's Florist, you've probably got lots of women to celebrate on this important day, which is itself devoted to recognizing the achievements of women across the world. It's also an occasion to set new goals, and indeed many IWD groups establish a theme each year that expresses their vision for the year ahead. Since 1909, the U.S. has been celebrating International Women's Day, and that has always included thoughtful gifts and gestures of support. Read More about International Women’s Day Is Here »
We here at Bice's Florist are excited to work with Pantone's 2018 Color Of The Year, Ultra Violet, an intriguing choice. If you didn't already know, color company Pantone convenes every year at a new international location, bringing the best minds on color together to select one emblematic shade. The idea is that the color chosen really captures the spirit of the times and possibly makes a projection about the year ahead. Ultra Violet, a majestic, cosmic shade, is meant to say a lot about who we are now and where we're going. Read More about Flowers That Showcase Pantone’s Color Of The Year »

Bice's Florist is feeling inspired by the season - especially its imagery of bare branches laden with snow. While we don't really get to enjoy the prettiest of precipitations here in Fort Worth, we can bring its palette into our home in the form of flowers.
We're loving the cream-colored, dreamy designs on offer when it comes to winter blooms. We see them packed with greens and other organic seasonal items like berries and pine cones. The contrast is beautiful and full of dimension. Add a hint of lavender or blue here and there, and you've got a floral arrangement that could stop traffic. Read More about Winter’s Silvery Blooms »

Ever heard of Julklapp? What about Amigo Secreto or Wichteln? Kris Kindle?
Maybe not, but we at Bice's Florist are betting you've definitely heard of the U.S. version of all of the above, Secret Santa. For the unaccustomed, this is a group gift swap where names are typically drawn out of a hat to pair up a gift giver and a recipient. The recipient won't know who the giver is; unless, of course, the giver spills it. Read More about Play Santa With Flowers »
